Always wanted to compost but never knew exactly how it worked? Wish you could compost but think your home doesn't have space for it? Ever hear about worm composting and wondered how you could do that?
The County of Santa Barbara is offers free composting workshops in the spring to answer these questions and more! Whether you are looking to keep food scraps out of the landfill, find out more about your current composting operation or have never heard of composting but are interested, these workshops are for you!
If the workshop in your area is over for the time being, there will be more offered next spring. If you are interested attending the next workshop, send an email with the subject "Composting Workshop" to jsimeon@cosbpw.net. Please include your name and address.
There are three convient locations in Santa Barbara County for the workshops every spring.

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. At the Santa Maria Valley Sustainable Garden, 624 West Foster Road, Orcutt. Click for Directions. There will be a Compost Bin Sale following this workshop from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 16th, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. At the Solvang Branch Library on the lawn, 1745 Mission Drive, Solvang.

Saturday, June 6th, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Santa Barbara City College's (SBCC) Lifescape Garden, overlooking the Harbor. These Directions will take you to SBCC's East Campus (external link). This Map will take you to the Lifescape Garden.
