The Green Award Program

The Green Award Consortium will be accepting nominations for the 2007 Green Awards from April 22, 2007 through June 22, 2007. The Green Award is an annual award that is given by the Green Award Consortium to selected businesses, schools, and organizations that have undertaken voluntary activities demonstrating exceptional commitment or innovation beyond their primary mission in helping to protect, improve, and preserve the environment. These activities should result in cleaner air or water, less waste, less traffic, conservation of energy and natural resources, and/or reduced use of hazardous materials.

In selecting the recipients, the Consortium will consider the following additional factors:

-- Measurable improvements to environmental quality

-- Comprehensive environmental philosophy

-- Ongoing or long-term environmental benefits

-- Creativity and innovation in technology or approach

-- Model achievements

Businesses, nonprofit organizations, and private or public schools are eligible for a Green Award. Governmental organizations and individuals, however, are ineligible.

To obtain a nomination form, brochure, and more information, please visit http://www.greendifference.org/Default.htm or call (805) 568-3440. Since the nomination form now encompasses a few checklists that identify areas of environmental performance, it has been made available online. The checklists have been incorporated into the nomination form to provide clearer guidance on the types of environmental actions that would support an organization's nomination for a Green Award.

You are strongly encouraged to submit the nomination form online through the website: http://www.greendifference.org/Default.htm, although you may submit it in hard copy. If you submit a hard copy version, please submit five double-sided sets of the form with any supporting materials (please note that supporting materials may or may not be considered) to:

The Green Award Consortium
123 East Anapamu Street, Suite 240
Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Nominations may be hand delivered, mailed, or sent electronically and must be postmarked or received by June 22, 2007. Recipients will be notified in early September 2007 and will be honored at the 14th annual Green Awards Luncheon to be held on Friday, September 21, 2007 during Pollution Prevention Week .
