Update on Collection Services on South Coast and Temporary Closure of South Coast Recycling & Transfer Station

Due to hazardous conditions related to the Thomas Fire, for the week of December 11th through 15th, only trash will be collected from residents in the cities of Goleta and Santa Barbara and the South Coast unincorporated area communities, including Montecito, Mission Canyon, eastern Goleta Valley, and Isla Vista.


Facility Closures and Trash Service Delays Due to Thomas Fire

The County's South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station, as well as MarBorg's transfer station in Santa Barbara, will be closed on Friday, December 8 due to hazardous air quality resulting from the Thomas Fire. Trash and recycling service on the South Coast will also be delayed by a day.

Hazardous Waste Center Closed Veterans Day and Thanksgiving Weekend

The Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center at UCSB will be closed on Friday, November 10 and during the Thanksgiving weekend from Friday, November 24 through Sunday, November 26.

Hazardous Waste Collection Event October 7 in New Cuyama


This Saturday, October 7, the County Public Works Department will host a free Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event at the New Cuyama Transfer Station. Stop by any time between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with items like old paint, automotive fluids, pesticides, TVs, computer equipment, and much more.
