Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban Passed by Board of Supervisors

On August 25 the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors adopted a local ordinance banning single-use plastic bags in some stores in the unincorporated areas of the county. Staff estimates that 8 larger stores and 66 smaller stores will be affected.

Oil Debris From Refugio Oil Spill

We appreciate the concern the public has shown with regards to the Refugio oil spill and understand that there are those who wish to participate in the cleanup. Please note, however, that oil debris collected from the spill is not permitted at the County's Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center.


Final Composting Workshop This Saturday!

Detours This Weekend at Hazardous Waste Collection Center

Due to the closure of Mesa Road this weekend between Los Carneros and Ocean Road, please be prepared for detours when traveling to the Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center from Los Carneros. If coming from Highway 217, please be aware that a checkpoint will be set up for Deltopia; residents wishing to go to the hazardous waste center will be allowed through.
